Construction declined.

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) reported
that, its MBA Mortgage Applications Survey for weekending
December 28th. 2001 declined 39.9% to 329.6. The
Purchase Index declined to 220.6. The Refinance
Index declined to 963.5. The 30-year Fixed Mortgage
Rate declined slightly to 7.12%.

US Jobless Claims for weekending December 29th.
rose 36,000 to 447,000. The 4-week moving average
declined 8,250 to 409,750.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported
that for weekending December 28th, US Crude Oil
Inventory declined 2.2 million barrels, while Distillates

Systems lost 36.11% for issuing an earnings warning.

Corp. gained 12.09% after Salomon Smith Barney raised
it to a "buy" recommendation.

International lost 3.97% despite denying that it
is under SEC investigation.

K-Mart
lost another 13.71% today as bankruptcy rumors refuse
to subside.

Cisco
Systems gained 7.96% after Morgan Stanley's Christopher
Stix and CS First Boston's Lissa Botagy had good
comments on the stock. Riverstone Networks, which
was also mentioned in a positive light by Christopher
Stix, gained 15.03%.

Electronics Manufacturers (CEMs) continued their
rebound today.

Semiconductor
stocks rallied after Hynix of South Korea raised
its DRAM chip prices again. The worldwide semiconductor
sales data made the sector to lead today's rally.

AOL
Time Warner lost 1.56% after Morgan Stanley analysts
Mary Meeker and Rich Bilotti cut their 2002 and
2003 earnings outlook on the media giant by 10%,
but still maintained their "strong buy"
recommendations on the stock.

K-Mart
lost 13.19% after Prudential Securities downgraded
it to a "sell" due to its poor quarterly
performance, and possible bankruptcy! K-Mart stated
its financial standing is sound.

eBay
lost 1.09% after Robertson Stephenson downgraded
the online auction giant to a "buy".

The

lost 1.39% after reporting just before the closing
bell that the SEC preliminary investigation about
about its accounting practices found that the company
overstated online advertisement revenue in the first
3 quarters of 2001 between $54 million and $95 million.

Uniphase gained 5.18% after completing the purchase
of IBM's optical transceiver business. IBM gained
0.45%.

Redback
Networks gained 19.24% after Morgan Stanley stated
that the company's fiscal Q4 revenue is on track
to meet Wall Street estimates, and that fiscal Q1
outlook is "modestly positive".

AFTER
CLOSE: Security company L3 Communications Holdings
announced that it is paying $100 million for the
X-ray detection operations of PerkinElmer. PerkinElmer
is gaining in after hours trading.

AFTER
CLOSE: Software developer Corillian is losing in
after hours trading after lowering its current quarter
revenue, and raising its losses for the period.

it was cutting about 400 to 800 jobs in its consulting
and sales units in North America.

lost 2.39% after the 9 State Attorney Generals asked
a judge to reject Microsoft's request for an extension
of the remedies procedure by 3 months.

America
West Holdings, the parent of America West Airlines,
closed 41.70% higher after receiving $380 million
in loan guarantees from the Federal Government as
part of the $15 billion airline industry bailout
after the September 11th. terrorist attacks. US
Airways, which is another airline in need of cash
infusion, gained on the news.

Echostar
Communications gained 0.62% despite a court restraining
order that it can't drop ABC Family channel from
its lineup. Walt Disney, which owns ABC, closed
lower.

Citigroup
lost 1.39% despite surpassing Merrill Lynch as the
US' leading underwriter.

Energy
company Mirant gained 4.36% after terminating its
Eco Electra deal with Edison International.

lost 15.91% after announcing that the FDA is requesting
more information on the clinical trials of its colon
Cancer drug, Erbutux™, so the launch will be delayed
until Q3 of 2002. Bristol Myers Squibb, which has

Oil
shares closed lower as analysts question the ability
of OPEC to maintain discipline and achieve its 1.5
million barrels a day production cut.

Ariba
gained 0.65% after the head of Japan's Softbank,
Masayoshi Son, resigned from its board effective
this Monday. Softbank will still hold a stake in
Ariba Japan.

Scient
gained 7.69% after naming former Chief Financial
Officer (CFO) of Young & Rubican, Jacques Tortoroli,
as its new CFO.

Extended
Systems gained 6.54% after Soundview has positive
comments about it.

Global
Crossing gained 37.70% after JP Morgan reported
that the company has until February 13th. 2002 to
secure funding or end up in bankruptcy.

Marvel
Enterprises gained 14.80% as the movie, Lord of
the Rings™, rakes in some serious money. Marvel
owns the merchandize rights to the movie.

US Orders for Durable Goods declined 4.8%, or $8.8
billion to $175.6 billion in November. Shipments
rose 0.2% to $180.7 billion, while Inventories declined
1.1% to $286.7 billion.

The Chicago Purchasing Managers Association (PMA)
reported that its Chicago PMI Index rose 30 basis
points (0.30%) to 41.4% - any point below 50% is
a contraction.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported
that for week ending December 21st, US crude oil
inventories rose 2.6 million barrels, while Distillates

Yahoo!
gained 2.98% after outgoing Merrill Lynch analyst
Henry Blodget raised his fiscal Q4 estimates on
the online media giant on hopes that the advertisement
climate will improve, and Yahoo!'s recent deal with
Overture Services is a win-win situation. In a separate
development, SBC Communications made known that
it is acquiring a 3% stake in Yahoo! from Softbank
of Japan.

Watley Group gained 12.50% after E*Trade Group accepted
its direct-access trading software solution. E*Trade
Group gained 1.95%.

AOL
Time Warner gained 2.07% after announcing today
that its online unit, AOL™, added 1 million new
users in October, thanks to its AOL 7.0™ version.
AOL™ now has 33 million customers.

Abgenix
gained 3.85% and helped biotechnology shares to
close higher after announcing that it is in mid-stage
patient testing for its Cancer drug.

The

syringe maker Med-Design gained 7.59% after signing
a licensing deal with Owens Illinois allowing Owens

shares closed missed after OPEC announced today
that as of January 1st, it will cut its crude oil
production by 1.5 million barrels a day for 6 months.
Non-OPEC members have already agreed to cut about
465,000.

China
ADRs (American Deposit Receipts) gained today after
President George W. Bush granted China permanent
normal trading status.

Software
developer Convera gained 12.86% after buying back
15 million of its common shares from Intel. Intel
closed lower.

Xerox
gained 6.24% after securing a $340 million financing
from GE Capital.

AFTER
CLOSE: Oracle is still gaining after announcing
plans to cut a further 400 to 800 jobs.

Energy gained 17.38% after announcing with its Asian
partner, Marubeni of Japan, the establishment of
the first direct fuelcell power plant in Asia at
a Kirin Brewery plant near Tokyo.

Department
Stores rallied today as it becomes apparent that
their Christmas sales wasn't as bad as expected.

Number
2 chip maker AMD gained 3.20% after Merrill Lynch
lowered its quarterly loss estimates.

Oil

GE Medical Systems is taking an equity stake in

of India selected its software platform for its

solutions provider, Mentergy Ltd. (formerly known
as Gilat Communications), gained 178% after the
District Court of Tel Aviv-Jaffa approved its refinancing
plans.

Wireless gained 4.44% after AT&T announced that
it has sold the remaining stake it holds in the
company for $1.4 billion. Analysts think AT&T
Wireless will perform better if AT&T is off
its back. AT&T closed lower.

that, TMP has 72 hours to sweeten its offer where
